Dear UKC 2021 participants:
It is our great pleasure to welcome each one of you to the 34th US-Korea Conference 2021 on Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (UKC 2021), jointly organized by the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA), the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) and the Korea-US Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO). The conference will be held December 15-18, 2021 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County near Los Angeles in California. UKC 2021 will provide invaluable opportunities for cooperation between the US and Korea.
The theme of UKC 2021 is “Pursuing Global Health and Sustainability.” We are to accelerate the momentum on sustainability (the UKC 2020 theme) and to address health challenges such as current and the next pandemic. UKC 2021 provides unique opportunities for participants to actively engage in discussing not only these challenges but also broad science and engineering challenges through various symposium sessions and forums.
In UKC 2021, we continue to promote entrepreneurship through the innovation and entrepreneurship symposium (IES) featuring start-up pitches and scale-up competitions. IES provides engagement and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from the US and Korea. We will also continue the University Leadership Forum and the Science and Policy Forum to bring leaders in academia and decision-makers from the US and Korea to address global challenges in globalizing higher education and establishing policies, respectively.
A new initiative for UKC 2021 is an option for submitting full papers, and each full paper will be peer-reviewed and assigned to a DOI number. As authors retain their copyrights, their papers can be submitted for publication at their choice.
We want to emphasize that UKC 2021 celebrates the 50th Anniversary of KSEA, by highlighting the past 50 years and bold visions for the next 50 years and beyond.
