2023 KSEA Boise Idaho Chapter New Year Event

KSEA Boise Idaho Chapter (BIC) held a new year event at Harris Ranch Mill District Club House in Boise, Idaho on the lunar new year (5PM-8PM, Sunday, January 22, 2023). The event began with a dinner prepared by catering. After dinner, ten local middle and high school students gave power point presentations and demonstrations in front of KSEA member families and invitees. The presentations were based on a weekly 40-minute Arduino class taught for 8 weeks in the fall of 2022 at a local Korean school (Sejong Korean School in Boise). Each week, students had the opportunity to learn about Arduino and create their own personal projects.

Following the presentations, we had time to hear the students’ and parents’ opinions in hopes of getting more participation and support. Furthermore, Professor Jae Hyun Ryu, the current vice president of KSEA, shared with them other future KSEA opportunities (in which the students can participate). KSEA NMSC (National Math Science Competition) / Physics hosted and Arts competitions hosted by the KSEA Headquarters are one of them. They had a fun game time for about half an hour after the meeting. The majority of participant feedback after the event was incredibly positive. We were told that the audiences were very pleased with the students’ efforts and were impressed by their performances. Based on its success, the KSEA BIC intends to provide more in-depth and enjoyable Arduino education to local middle and high school students in 2023.
