On November 9, KSEA launched the KSEA Distinguished Guest Series with the inaugural guest Professor June Huh, the 2022 Fields Medalist. Dr. June Huh is a professor of mathematics at Princeton University. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 2022 for bringing the ideas of Hodge’s theory to combinatorics. All KSEA members and family were invited to the “Conversation with Fields Medalist, June Huh” via online zoom meeting, and about 200 participated in the meeting. KSEA held the 2nd KSEA Distinguished Guest Series on December 15 with Prof. Keith Joung at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, the recipient of the 2022 HO-Am Prize in Medicine. In this session moderated by KSEA President Young-Kee Kim, Prof. Joung spoke about his scientific research in the field of CRISPR gene-editing and epigenetic-editing technology development. He talked about his scientific journey from growing up in Wisconsin as a second-generation Korean-American to becoming a principal investigator who has led a highly productive research group for the past 20-plus years, and a question-and-answer session was followed by his lecture.

The 3rd KSEA Distinguished Guest Series was held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, with John S. Kim, the Co-Founder and CEO of SendBird and the recipient of the 2022 KSEA Entrepreneurship of the Year Award. During the zoom meeting, John Kim talked about his journey to becoming CEO of SendBird, the No. 1 conversations platform for mobile apps, serving over 300M monthly chat users, and participated in a question-and-answer session following his talk.

KSEA held the 4th KSEA Distinguished Guest Series on Thursday, February 9, 2023. As guest speakers, Dr. Daniel Dongyuel Lee, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, and Dr. SueYeon Chung, Assistant Professor of Neural Science at New York University, were invited. They present and discuss AI for Science, Technology and Society at the zoom meeting. Prof. Daniel Dongyuel Kim was the recipient of the 2018 KSEA Engineer of the Year Award.
