The meeting featured one keynote speaker, invited faculty research talks, and a research presentation competition for young scientists (i.e., trainees). We invited Peter Jay Hotez, MD, Ph.D., Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine and Director of the BCM and Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development. Moreover, there was an oral presentation section for young scientists (post-doctoral trainees and graduate students) to expose themselves to the West Gulf Coast Community and help develop their scientific careers. In the oral presentation section, therefore, we prepared several presenting awards to recognize their achievements. Finally, we invited two medical industries to participate in a technical discussion with attendees: illumine and 10x Genomics.
