15th NYKB Annual Conference

NYKB (New York Korean Biologists), an APS of KSEA, held the 15th NYKB 2023 Annual Conference in Manhattan of New York on May 06, 2023. This conference brought together research fellows and Ph.D. students from academia and research institutes surrounding New York and New Jersey, as well as two keynote speakers, four NYKB fellowship winners, eight NYKB General session presenters, and prestigious companies in Korea and the United States to provide NYKB members with job information in the bio-industry. The conference was divided into seven parts: (1) A congratulatory remark from the Consul General (Eui-Hwan Kim) of the Republic of Korea in New York, (2) Two Keynote speeches, (3) A scientific session (from Promega), (4) Four NYKB fellowships, (5) Industry networking and sponsors talk, (6) Eight NYKB General presenters, and (7) Networking Session. In particular, the NYKB conference provided a good opportunity to let people know about KSEA and emphasize the importance of membership and voting. At this conference, to understand the ‘post-pandemic era’ and ‘cutting-edge convergence biomedical science era’, Prof. Guinevere Q Lee at Weill Cornell Medicine and Prof. Ki-Bum Lee at Rutgers University were invited for plenary speeches. This NYKB 2023 Fellowship selected a total of 4 people through a fair review among the support of prominent candidates. In addition, the two researchers in the fields of Oncology, Immunology, Neuro/Stem cell biology, and Cutting-edge biology was also introduced at the NYKB General Session. A total of 100 participants joined this NYKB 2023 annual conference, and it has contributed to the improvement of various biomedical scientific and educational activities by providing networking opportunities for members, sharing the latest research findings, and providing guidance and advice from industry leaders and academics to the next generation of biomedical areas. In addition, there have been many young and professional biomedical scientists in New York/New Jersey, and this conference served as a great opportunity to show the strength of New York biomedical scientists throughout the United States.
