KSEA Seattle chapter invited Dr. Kim, Young-Kee, the president of KSEA, as a speaker for the invited talk on May 26, 2023. The invited talk took place at the Husky Union Building of the University of Washington. The event was organized to offer a research talk and mentorship for graduate students, researchers, and those who are interested in a research career.

Dr. Kim’s talk consisted of three sessions. In the first session, she presented her research talk under the title “Making the invisible visible: Searching for fundamental laws of nature”. In the second session, she shared her research journey. Finally, Dr. Kim answered questions given by two moderators, which were collected from registrants and the audience. The entire event lasted for two hours without intermission. After the official event, additional conversations and mentorship opportunities were provided for the audience who joined the social gathering.
Forty-five people attended the event, and twelve people became KSEA members (10 new, 2 renewing). Although graduate students and researchers were mainly targeted, the event attracted many participants who were IT professionals, as well as students and parents of the recent national math and science competition. The event was advertised through many different channels including email, LinkedIn, and KakaoTalk It turned out the invited talk became a community event that gathered a broad spectrum of audiences from different generations.
