iDrone 2023 testimonial

The 2023 Interstate Drone League (iDrone) youth camp was successfully held in June 2023, featuring an exciting competition. The competition winners attended UKC 2023 and had the opportunity to present their poster. Here is a testimonial from one of our participants below. Discover how iDrone camp ignited their excitement for drones.

My name is Michael Hsieh, and I am a sophomore attending Legacy Magnet Academy in Tustin California who had the incredible opportunity to participate in the iDrone Program and attended the UKC 2023 Convention in Dallas Texas. The iDrone camp turned out to be an experience that was not only incredibly fun but also challenging.

The heart of the iDrone camp was the process of designing and constructing our very own drones. Combining innovation and creation, making the drone was inspiring and enjoyable for everyone. This camp not only nurtured my technical skills but also deepened my appreciation for engineering and technology.

What truly set the iDrone camp apart was its ability to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. The secondary project was to use drones to theorize a way that they could be used to benefit the world. Exploring their capabilities and finding which was the most efficient to eventually come up with our idea was also something that made this camp memorable. From this poster, my teammate and I were given the opportunity to present at KSEA’s UKC 2023 convention in Dallas as the first high school poster presenters at this event. The opportunity to interact with industry professionals and fellow enthusiasts was a priceless extension of the iDrone experience.

Overall, this camp was an unforgettable experience where I was able to adapt and learn more about drones and technology, discover their capabilities to help others, and push me out of my comfort zone to reach beyond my limits. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who gave me the opportunity to attend UKC 2023 and this amazing iDrone Camp.
