On October 28th, 2023, the KSEA Austin TX Chapter hosted its annual fall picnic at the Grass Square of Brackenridge apartments on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. This delightful gathering served as a unifying occasion, extending warm invitations to both our dedicated existing members and newcomers intrigued by the KSEA community.
Remarkably, the event drew the participation of more than ten KSEA YG members from Angelo State University, demonstrating their commitment to the organization despite a considerable 200-mile distance that had previously limited them to online interactions only. The picnic provided a valuable opportunity for them to finally meet face-to-face and savor some much-needed social time.
The festivities commenced at 11 AM, with an engaging opening address delivered by Dr. In-Hyouk Song, the Chapter President of KSEA Austin TX Chapter. During this moment, he provided a brief overview of the organization’s plans for the year and the exciting events lined up for the upcoming semester. Attendees enthusiastically embraced the outdoor activities, from spirited games of soccer and Frisbee to the cozy indoor world of board games. As the noon hour approached, a delectable meal was served, affording our student members a chance to not only refuel but also engage in meaningful conversations about their career development with our Regular members.
To conclude this fantastic day, participants took part in lively games of egg tossing and truth or dare, igniting uproarious laughter and heart-pounding excitement for everyone in attendance, both participants and observers alike.
At 2 PM, the eagerly anticipated grand finale unfolded, featuring a prize draw with Bluetooth mouse and Amazon gift cards, as well as two lucky winners, Jaebum Park (Graduate Student Member) and Hyun-Je Yang (Graduate Student Member), who each walked away with a brand-new television.
Despite an initial drizzle, the event saw a resilient turnout, with 71 participants, including around 30 new members enthusiastically enrolling in the Austin TX chapter. The success of this event was a collective effort, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in the 2023 Austin TX Chapter fall picnic, each contributing to the event’s overall enjoyment and success.
