The 2nd KSEA Senior forum was held virtually with a presentation, entitled “Nuclear Energy for Carbon Neutrality and Energy Security: International Trends and Korean Outlook,” given by Jonghyun Kim of KAIST. The forum moderated by Dr. HT Thomas Hahn (UCLA, 28th KSEA President) discussed various aspects of nuclear energy including modern technology, environmental impacts and socio-economic perception that are changing with scientific data and knowledge. Superiority of Korean technology and socio-political needs for the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) along with its potential impact on Korean export were presented and discussed. Despite being the forum intended for senior members, many young KSEA members attended for its technical content and mentorship.
