National Math and Science Contest (NMSC) 2024

by Jeho Park, Ph.D. (KSEA 52nd VP1)

The National Math and Science Contest (NMSC) is one of the flagship events hosted by KSEA. The NMSC 2024 was held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, marking the first fully in-person contest since the global pandemic in 2021. Nearly 1,000 students from 4th through 11th grade across the US participated. Reestablishing the in-person national contest posed challenges due to the loss of institutional knowledge in many aspects of NMSC execution. Despite these difficulties, the NMSC 2024 was largely successful. The award ceremony was held online two weeks later, on April 20, 2024, to recognize the top performers from each division (4th – 6th lower division; 7th – 11th upper division).

Southern California Chapter (In-person Award Ceremony
Georgia Chapter (In-person Exam)
Nebraska Chapter (In-person Exam)
Washington Metro Chapter (In-person Award Ceremony)

A total of 18 local chapters participated in the NMSC 2024. These chapters include Austin TX, Chicagoland, Eastern Carolina, Georgia, Idaho, Nebraska, New England, New Jersey, New York Metropolitan, North Carolina, North TX, Seattle, South Texas, Southern CA, Southwest Ohio, Tampa Bay, Texas Coastal Bend, and Washington Metro. Without the local chapters’ dedication, this event wouldn’t be successful.

The NMC 2024 National Awards recipients are listed below with their school and residence areas. The national award winners are all invited to the Hanwha Math Olympias (HMO) in June.
