KSEA UG_G Event Virginia Tech 2024

Reported by Won Jae Chung, KSEA VT Southern Chapter

Event led by Young Ju Eu, President of KSEA VT Southern Chapter

The event was a successful gathering where undergraduate and graduate students exchanged valuable information about graduate programs at Virginia Tech. Structured by academic majors, the event allowed graduate students to share their research experiences, challenges, and insights with undergraduates, providing guidance on navigating the application process, managing coursework, and securing funding. This one-on-one interaction helped undergraduates gain a clearer understanding of what pursuing a graduate degree would entail, offering information not readily available through other sources.

KSEA played a key role in organizing the event, providing the space and refreshments, which created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The informal setting encouraged open conversations and networking among participants. In addition to academic discussions, students participated in group activities designed to foster collaboration and build connections. These activities, grouped by major or department, helped students bond with peers who shared similar academic interests while adding an element of fun to the event.

By the end of the event, both undergraduate and graduate students benefited from the exchange. Undergraduates left with a deeper understanding of graduate school, and graduate students had the opportunity to mentor while expanding their networks. KSEA’s support contributed to the event’s success in achieving its academic and social goals.
