The Orlando/Central Florida Chapter has a unique situation regarding aviation and pilot training. There are approximately 300 Korean students studying at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach) and the Florida Institute of Technology (Melbourne), all aspiring to become airline pilots. Additionally, several aviation-related flight training institutions are located in the Central Florida area. Central Florida offers a unique environment for aviation and pilot training, with numerous related industries.
To establish a Young Generation (YG) group—an undergraduate student group—focused on pilot training students, a seminar was held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on January 25, 2025. This seminar addressed topics specifically relevant to students studying aviation and pilot training. The event featured the following speakers:
- Asiana Airlines First Officer – Captain Chungnam Jeong
- Frontier Airlines First Officer – Captain Seokwon Kang
- NetJets Captain – Captain Jihoon Kim
- Immigration Lawyer – Minho Seo
- Republic Airways – Recruiters & Pilots
Approximately 100 Korean students and pilots participated in the seminar, which received positive feedback. Currently, new members are signing up, and the Orlando chapter is collaborating with the Korean Student Associations at both universities to establish a YG chapter.
